Join Expert in Residence Glenda Hicks for a hands-on workshop that will focus on building the foundation for a grants management system within your organization. This workshop will walk participants through a process that will:

  • Identify the current state of their grant accounting system
  • Identify missing components to the system
  • Develop tools/documents for creating and/or enhancing the system
  • Develop a plan for implementation of the system

Presenter: Glenda Hicks, CPA

Glenda Hicks will serve as Expert in Residence for June 2011. Experts in Residence is the Foundation Center-Atlanta's new program to connect nonprofit professionals with the expertise they need to effectively run their organizations.

Glenda Hicks is a Certified Public Accountant with 24 years’ experience in the field. She is licensed in the states of Georgia and Florida, and is owner of Glenda Y. Hicks, CPA, in Marietta, Georgia. She exclusively serves the nonprofit community with consulting services in the areas of financial management, tax research, and board and staff training. Through her CPA services, Glenda assists clients with identifying, developing, and implementing systems that create an infrastructure that emphasizes accountability, compliance, and transparency.

Prior to establishing her firm, Glenda served a variety of clients on audit and tax services with Coopers & Lybrand, LLP. She later worked as director of financial reporting for the University of Miami, then as controller and interim executive director for a community-based nonprofit organization. Her civic involvement includes serving with the Girl Scouts, Cobb Community Collaborative, National Legal Aid and Defenders Association (NLADA), and MUST Ministries. Glenda is a former adjunct professor for the graduate business program at the University of Miami and is currently a member of the adjunct faculty of Brenau University.
