Fiscal Sponsorship for Social Entrepreneurs and Emerging Nonprofits

Mar 14, 2012

Fiscal sponsorship offers charitable status to independent projects, and it can also provide key technical assistance to help a project focus on its initial vision, while helping to reduce its administrative costs.

Depending on the sponsoring organization, fiscally sponsored projects can receive (in addition to the legal status necessary for fundraising) nonprofit support services ranging from financial, human resources, and risk management, as well as expert help on nonprofit compliance and governance.

In this discussion, Brad Luckhart and Yvette Diaz of the Tides Center (well-known for its fiscal sponsorship model) provide an overview of fiscal sponsorship and the range of services in the TIDES model of fiscal sponsorship.
