Highlights from Starting a Nonprofit: Requirements, Considerations, and the Nonprofit Marketplace
There are currently more than 960,000 nonprofit public charities in the United States*, and last year alone, many thousands more were created. Within this nonprofit marketplace, it is important to understand what starting a nonprofit will entail.
This video highlights a program which includes nonprofit founders, who lived through the start-up process to tell us all about it, and an attorney, who covers legal and procedural requirements you need to consider. They cover how to deal with competition, founding boards, making mission statements, budgeting, fundraising planning, and the laws and regulations you need to understand in order to create a legal nonprofit organization.
H. Aldervan Daly, the COO and Founder of City Families, moderates this event. He is joined by two other nonprofit founders: Sharon Cohen, the Founder and Artistic Director at Artistic Dream International, and Sharon Cohen, the Founder and Executive Director of Figure Skating in Harlem. Also joining the panel is David W. Lowden, a special counselor at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, LLP who describes in depth the legal procedures that you need to understand to start the process of legalizing your nonprofit organization.
This program is presented in collaboration with Association of Fundraising Professionals, New York City Chapter.
