How to Start a Nonprofit

This class will explore the characteristics of effective nonprofits and demonstrate how to transform your idea for a charitable program or service into a fully-fledged organization. We will address such questions as:

  • What groundwork do I have to have in place before approaching foundations for funding?
  • What are the steps to obtaining incorporation and nonprofit status and where can I get some help to do so?
  • What are the characteristics of successful nonprofits?

Upon arrival, you will be required to present your ID to obtain a visitor pass. Valid forms of ID include a driver’s license, passport, military ID, or business card. Please plan to arrive early and stop at the Visitor Services desk in the main lobby to obtain a visitor pass.
