Philanthropy Field Trips will get you out of the office and into a world of spectacular achievement! Hear firsthand accounts of how deals are made and see the impact of philanthropy in our community. And, have fun doing it!
Jane Christyson, Chief Executive Officer: has more than 35 years of nonprofit administration and management experience with a concentration in special events and corporate sponsorships. She is currently Chief Executive Officer for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio which serves almost 30,000 girl members and 14,000 adult volunteers in 18 counties. She also serves on the Girl Scouts of the United States of America National Sponsorship and Licensing Committee. Jane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Cleveland State University. She graduated cum laude. She has served the community as a volunteer with many organizations and is currently on the Education Committees of the Musical Theatre Project and Beck Center as well as a Board Member for North Pointe Ballet, Mercury Theatre and Cleveland United Way Council of Agency Executives. Jane was a Girl Scout for 10 years, a Girl Scout Leader for 8 years and earned the First Class Award (now known as the Gold Award) the highest award in Girl Scouting. She is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts.
Julie Weagraff, CFRE, Director of Fund Development: joined Girl Scouts of North East Ohio in December 2015 and is a lifetime member. She is responsible for all fundraising activities for the Council. She has worked in the advancement field for over 20 years and has expertise in planned giving, major gifts, annual campaigns, corporate and foundation relations, board development, special events management and alumni relations. She holds a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations with honors from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. In 2014 she attained the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.
Candace Campbell, Manager, Corporate Philanthropy and Events: has been an active member of Girl Scouts for 28 years and is a lifetime member. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Akron she joined Girl Scouts as a full time employee. She has spent the majority of her career directing Girl Scout camps in various councils around the country. She also has experience in membership support and recently joined the Fund Development Department as the Manager of Corporate Philanthropy and Events for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio.
Emily Fletcher Fein, Director of Programs, joined Girl Scouts of North East Ohio in the fall of 2010. She has been involved in Girl Scouting since childhood and her first employment opportunity was at Camp Conshatawba - a property of Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania. She earned her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting, in 1998. Emily received her bachelor’s degree in biology and American history from the University of Rochester and completed her master’s degree in educational leadership at Bank Street College of Education in New York, NY. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Cultural Foundations of Education at Kent State University.
Please note: a tour of the camp will be part of the experience and it is recommended that you wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
