New board members from the business world often speak a different language and operate from a different culture from the nonprofit board they join, which can result in a bumpy experience. This interactive session will look at how to effectively recruit, onboard and integrate such board members. The main goal is a seamless start leading to a productive and mutually satisfying experience, along with business and nonprofit professionals learning from each other and experimenting with best practices from both realms. This workshop is designed for all nonprofits.

Special Guest:
Thomas A Raffin, M.D.; Board member, National AIDS Memorial Grove; Senior Partner, Telegraph Hill Partners

Moderator:

Lisa Hoffman brings 25 years of experience and success to nonprofit fund and board development, facilitation, and coaching.

Grounded in practices of deep listening, respect, and collaboration, Lisa’s approach begins with clearly understanding an organization’s culture, needs and issues. Partnering with her clients, she determines how to effectively tackle challenges ranging from raising more money, to designing a dynamic and productive board-staff retreat, to helping executive directors, development professionals and board members hone their skills and fulfill their leadership potential. She then rolls up her sleeves and gets to work.
