Foundation Center operates libraries in five cities: Its headquarters in New York City, and its field offices in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Cleveland, and San Francisco. Center libraries provide access to a unique collection of materials on philanthropy and are open to the public free of charge.

Professional reference librarians are on hand to instruct library users in how to research funding information using Center publications, Foundation Directory Online, and other resources. Free and fee-based training sessions are also available at each of the five library locations.

The Center's growing Funding Information Network is made up of public, academic, or special libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit agencies in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and several countries. Network partners offer a core collection of Center publications free to the public, including Foundation Directory Online, and their staffs are trained to direct visitors to appropriate resources on funding information. Each offers its own orientations and other community workshops. It is advisable to call a Network partner in advance of a visit to verify holdings and hours of operation.
