Where can I find examples of nonprofit budgets?

Actual samples of nonprofit budgets can be hard to find because they usually are not subject to public disclosure. Any budgets that you do find are specific to their organizations, so they may or may not be appropriate for your own nonprofit's situation. Use them as models to start creating your own budget.

Listed below are websites where we've found samples and instructions on creating a nonprofit budget.

Project and grant proposal budgets

If you're a small or startup nonprofit, your direct services will probably make up a lot of your organization's budget, so a project budget can be a helpful and less overwhelming starting point.

Explore our Sample Documents gallery, which contains samples of winning proposals, including their budgets.

To learn more about grant proposal budgets, see Introduction to Project Budgets, our free course available online or in-person.
